Customized products image and summary in the WooCommerce Block Cart and Checkout

Starting in WooCommerce version 8.3, the WooCommerce Cart and Checkout Blocks became the default for new WooCommerce installations. Earlier versions of the Kickflip plugin did not support the Block Cart, so customized product images and question/answer summaries were not displayed there.

This issue is resolved in Kickflip plugin version 1.0.49 and later. No configuration changes are required, the Block Cart and Block Checkout now display the customized product image and design summary out of the box.

Update the Kickflip WooCommerce plugin to version 1.0.49 or later. Once updated, customized product images and summaries will display correctly whether you are using the Block Cart, the Block Checkout, or the classic shortcode-based cart.

You no longer need to revert your cart and checkout pages to the Classic Shortcode. If you previously made that change as a workaround, you can safely switch back to the Block Cart and Block Checkout at any time.

For the classic cart, Kickflip replaces the default product image using the WordPress hook woocommerce_cart_item_thumbnail. Some themes remove or bypass this hook in their own cart templates. If you are using the classic shortcode cart and the customized image still does not appear after updating, this is likely the cause.

In this case, switching to the Block Cart (WooCommerce 8.3+) is the recommended path — the Block Cart uses a separate image API that is not affected by theme template overrides.
