Kickflip works with BigCommerce stores that use a Stencil theme. Once the app is installed, you build your customizer in Kickflip and connect it to your store in a few clicks.
1. Install the app
In your BigCommerce admin, open the App Marketplace and search for Kickflip.
Click Install and accept the permissions.
The Kickflip app opens in your BigCommerce admin. Under Connection status, click Connect store.
2. Create or connect your Kickflip account
A Kickflip page opens in a new tab, with your email and store name already filled in.
New to Kickflip: create your account. You start with a free trial.
Already have a Kickflip account: click Sign in, then connect your store to your account.
Kickflip then adds its script to your storefront and opens your Kickflip dashboard. Back in your BigCommerce admin, the Kickflip app shows your store as connected.
3. Connect a product
In Kickflip, build your customizer and publish it.
Open the product's Connect page and click Connect next to your BigCommerce store.
Kickflip creates a new product in your BigCommerce catalog, with the customizer's base price and preview image.
The new product is hidden from your storefront. In BigCommerce, open the product and make it visible when you're ready to sell it.
Kickflip adds a few options to the product (Design ID, Design Token, Design Image, Design Summary). They carry each customer's design to the cart and the order: don't edit or delete them.
When you rename or change the price of the product in Kickflip, the BigCommerce product updates too. Disconnecting the product in Kickflip deletes it from BigCommerce.
4. Choose how the customizer appears
In the Kickflip app in your BigCommerce admin, open Integration settings:
Customize button: replaces your theme's Add to Cart button. The customizer opens in a popup. You can change the button label, the popup size and its corner radius.
Customizer only: shows the customizer directly on your product page.
Kickflip finds your theme's Add to Cart button on its own. If your theme is heavily customized, turn on Advanced mode to set the Add to Cart button and customizer placement selectors yourself.
5. Cart and orders
When a customer adds a design to the cart, the cart shows the design image and its price.
The customer can go back to the customizer from the cart to edit the design.
Every BigCommerce order with a customized product appears in Kickflip under Orders, with the full design. Its status follows the BigCommerce order: shipped or completed orders show as fulfilled, cancelled or declined orders as cancelled.
Uninstalling
When you uninstall the Kickflip app, its script is removed from your storefront and your store is disconnected from Kickflip. Your Kickflip account and customizers stay in Kickflip.
Good to know
Each Kickflip product creates a new BigCommerce product. Linking a customizer to an existing BigCommerce product isn't available yet.
Kickflip supports Stencil themes. Headless storefronts aren't supported yet.
