Questions can have different input types. Input types change the way your customers interact with a question. Different input types will be available for you to choose from based on the Display type of your question.

Click on the + button to create a question, then select the input type.

To change the input type of an existing question, open your question and look for Input type in the right side panel.

Thumbnails buttons allow the end-user to choose one element from a predefined set of mutually exclusive options. Each button has a thumbnail image to help the customer understand their choice. If it's a color question and no image is uploaded, the thumbnail will be colored automatically. Thumbnail buttons are displayed in a line.

If you are using the Booklike theme, you can toggle on the Large thumbnail setting. Large thumbnail buttons work the same as thumbnail buttons, but are larger. They can be useful if you want to show your customers a bigger image.

If you are using the Booklike theme, you can toggle on the show name label setting. That will display the answer name label under the answer.

If this setting is toggled off, the answer name will be displayed in a tooltip that will appear when the mouse cursor hovers over the answer.

The dropdown menu allows the customer to choose a value from a list.

You can use a dropdown menu font font selection. The dropdown will show your font previews in this case.

Toggle on 'Searchable' to make a dropdown searchable. This can be useful if you offer many answers.

Radio buttons allow the customer to choose one element from a predefined set of mutually exclusive options. The list is displayed without thumbnail images.

Label buttons allow the customer to choose one element from a predefined set of mutually exclusive options. In these labels, thumbnail images aren't displayed, only text.

When it comes to font questions, each font will be applied on the label buttons.

Text input allow the customer to answer a question by entering text.

File upload allows the customer to upload:

The color picker allows customer to select any color or enter a specific HEX or RGB color values to get the exact hue they desire. The color picker will also display predefined color answers if you add them.

To access the color picker settings, click on the cog icon next to input type.

Enable this setting to display the color spectrum so customers can pick colors visually.

Enable this setting to display colors selected in other color pickers within your customizer.

The Checkbox input type allow the customer to choose one or multiple elements from a predefined set of options.

The Checkbox input type also allows you to set minimum and maximum selection quantities.

The date picker input type allows customers to select a date using a calendar. It can be useful for personalized products that include a specific date, such as a wedding invitation, an event ticket, or a delivery date.

If your question uses the Text display type, the selected date will be displayed on your product.

To access the date picker settings, click on the cog icon next to the input type.

Choose how the date is displayed to your customers:

- Day / Month / Year (e.g. 25/06/2026)

- Month / Day / Year (e.g. 06/25/2026)

- Year / Month / Day (e.g. 2026/06/25)

- Written month (e.g. June 25 2026)

- Day, written month (e.g. 25 June 2026)

If your store is in another language, the written month formats will be automatically translated. For example, "June" will appear as "juin" in a French store.

Disable this setting to prevent customers from selecting a date before today.

Disable this setting to prevent customers from selecting a date after today.

If you choose any input type other than "none", a question is added to your question panel.

Choosing "none" means you don't want the element to show up in the question panel. The element is placed "Behind the scene".

For example, you could place a background image behind the scene because the customers will not be interacting with it.
