TIP
If your customizer feels slow to load, Shopify product templates can help improve performance.
We recommend keeping your customizable product pages as lightweight as possible especially by limiting the number of apps and scripts running on the page. Using dedicated product templates ensures the customizer runs in a more optimized environment.
This tutorial shows you how to create a Shopify product template for your Kickflip custom products, hide default sections, and apply the template to one or multiple products. Let’s get started!
From your Shopify dashboard, click "Online Store" in the navigation menu.
Select the "Themes" section under your Online Store. Then click "Customize" on your current theme.
Click "Home page" at the top.
Click "Products".
Click "Create template".
Enter a name for your new template, such as "Customizer Product", and click "Create template".
Right-click on "Product information" and click on "Hide" in the left menu's "Template" section.
Right-click "Related products" and click "Hide" in the left menu's "Template" section.
Click "Save" at the top right corner.
10. Exit the theme editor by clicking the "Exit" button at the top left corner.
11. Click "Products" in the navigation menu
12. Click on your customizable product's title, in this case "Custom Soccer Ball".
13. Assign your newly created template to the product in the "Theme template" menu.
14. Click "Save".
Quickly applying your template to multiple customizable products
Once you are done with steps 1 to 14, you may realize that it would be tedious to assign your template to each of your product individually. There is a way to bulk edit all of your concerned products quickly:
1. Go to your products page inside Shopify.
2. Select all products that the template needs to be applied to (If you have a lot of different product, we suggest adding tags to filter them quickly).
3. Click on the "bulk edit" button.
4. Click on the "column" button.
5. Check the "template" option.
6. Add the template quickly to your products and then hit the "SAVE" button in the right corner.
