Set up E-commerce inventory sync on Shopify

Link the variants in your custom products to Shopify variants, so Shopify manages their stock.

Applies to: E-commerce inventory sync, Shopify only.

With E-commerce inventory sync on Shopify, your stock lives in Shopify. You link each Kickflip variant to a Shopify variant. When an order comes in, Shopify updates the stock. Your custom products become part of your normal Shopify catalog and inventory workflow.

What changes when sync is on

  • You manage stock quantities in Shopify.

  • Each Kickflip variant you track must be linked to a Shopify variant.

  • Stock updates automatically when orders are placed.

  • You can't edit stock in Kickflip anymore.

  • Prices still come from Kickflip. See How synced variants appear in cart, checkout and orders.

Step 1: Turn on sync

  1. Go to Inventory.

  2. Click Inventory settings.

  3. Select E-commerce inventory sync.

  4. Click Save.

Step 2: Create variants

In your product, create variants for the items you want to track. See Create variants to track stock.

Already used Kickflip inventory? Your variants are still there. Skip to step 3.

Step 3: Link each variant to Shopify

  1. Open your product and go to Variants.

  2. If you have more than one Shopify store, pick the store from the dropdown above the variant table.

  3. Find the variant and click Not linked to Shopify.

  4. Select the Shopify variant to link.

  5. Click the save button.

Once linked, the row shows the variant name, the Shopify product name and a link to the product in Shopify.

If you use more than one Shopify store

Each store has its own products and stock, so you set up links once per store. Use the store selector at the top right of the variant table to switch stores. Links in one store don't affect the others.

Moving from Kickflip inventory

If you already track stock in Kickflip:

  1. Save a copy of your current stock from the Inventory page, in a spreadsheet or a screenshot. You'll use it in step 4.

  2. Turn on sync (step 1).

  3. Link your existing variants (step 3).

  4. Set or check the stock of every linked variant in Shopify before you take new orders.

Switch back to Kickflip inventory

  1. Go to Inventory > Inventory settings.

  2. Select Kickflip only.

  3. Click Save.

Switching doesn't delete any data.
