Why can't I add a new Shopify variant from Kickflip?
The option is off when the Shopify product has more than one option, like Size and Color.
To create a Shopify variant, Kickflip must give it a value for every Shopify option. With one option, there is only one value to fill. With two or more, Kickflip can't tell which value to use for each option.
Example: your Shopify product has a Size option and a Color option. Your Kickflip variants only use Color. Kickflip can't tell which Size to give a new Blue or Red variant.
To avoid wrong links and broken variants, Kickflip turns off variant creation for Shopify products with two or more options.
Fix: create the variants in Shopify first.
In Shopify, add the variants you need to the product, then save.
Go back to Kickflip and refresh the page.
Open the variant linking menu.
Select the new Shopify variants.
Kickflip loads the latest Shopify variants when you refresh. You also keep full control over option names, values, stock and SKUs.
If the item is only sold through your customizer, you can link it to an unlisted product instead. See Link Kickflip variants to Shopify.
Why do customers get an error when adding to cart or at checkout?
Most often, a Kickflip variant is linked to a Shopify variant that no longer exists. This usually happens when the variant was deleted in Shopify.
Open the product in Kickflip and go to Variants.
Check that every linked Shopify variant still exists.
Link any broken variant again.
To prevent it, check whether a Shopify variant is linked in Kickflip before you delete it.
If the error shows up right after you added a product to Shopify, the product itself may be out of stock in Shopify. See Why is the 'Add to cart' button not working?
Why does a choice show as out of stock?
With sync on, Shopify controls out-of-stock behavior. Check the stock of the linked Shopify variant. If "Continue selling when out of stock" is on for that variant in Shopify, customers can keep buying it at zero stock.
Kickflip doesn't store stock. It reads the quantity Shopify gives for the linked variant. Shopify keeps stock per location and decides which location fulfills each order. Kickflip sees the total across all Shopify locations. If a warehouse has 10 and a store has 2, Kickflip sees 12.
For what customers see in the customizer, see What customers see when an item is out of stock.
I linked the wrong Shopify variant
Unlink it, then link the right one. On the Variants page, select the variant, click Bulk Actions and choose Unlink variants. See Link Kickflip variants to Shopify.
Do I need to keep Shopify variant prices up to date?
No. Kickflip sets the price. See How synced variants appear in cart, checkout and orders.
