Applies to: Kickflip inventory and E-commerce inventory sync, all e-commerce platforms.
When a variant has no stock left, Kickflip marks it as out of stock in your customizer and blocks the purchase. Later checks in the cart and at checkout depend on your platform and inventory mode.
When is a choice out of stock?
It depends on your inventory mode.
Inventory mode | A choice is out of stock when |
Kickflip inventory | Its Available quantity in Kickflip reaches 0. |
Inventory sync on Shopify | The linked Shopify variant has no stock left across all locations, and "Continue selling when out of stock" is off. |
In the customizer
The choice shows an out-of-stock tag.
Customers can still select it and see it in the preview.
If they click Add to cart with an out-of-stock choice selected, they see "Some of your choices are out of stock" and can't add the product to the cart.
This works the same way in both inventory modes.
In the cart and at checkout
Stock can run out between the moment a customer adds an item to the cart and the moment they pay. This table shows where stock is checked again.
