What should I do if my customizer is slow?

How to make your customizer load faster and feel snappier.

Here are a few tips to help you optimize your customizer's speed if you feel that it does not load and run as quickly as you would like it to.

Reducing your canvas and image sizes

Smaller dimensions mean lighter weight and faster loading times.

  1. Reduce your customizer canvas size, the maximum recommended size is 1200 x 1200 pixels.

  2. Resize and save your product images to match your new canvas size with Photoshop.

TIP
If you don’t have access to Photoshop, consider using free alternatives like Photopea or GIMP.

Reducing your thumbnail image sizes

Make sure your thumbnail images are not too big (minimally 50px x 50px but no larger than 300px x 400px).

Compressing your png images

  1. Compress your PNG images using TinyPNG.

  2. Re-upload your compressed images in Kickflip's product builder.

Use a Shopify product template

If your customizer feels slow to load, Shopify product templates can help improve performance. By keeping your customizable product pages as lightweight as possible — especially by limiting the number of apps and scripts running on the page — you create a faster, smoother experience.

Is it taking a long time before the Kickflip loading icon appears?

In some cases, longer loading times are not related to the Kickflip app. The problem could be happening on your ecommerce store, before the Kickflip Iframe is loaded. This article explains how to find the cause of a slowness on your site using Google Chrome.

NOTE
If you don’t have a web developer, we recommend heyCarson or StoreTasker to help you with that.
